HealthFund Limited was set up in October 2007 to bring an exciting new approach to the funding of private healthcare to the UK market. An experienced management team spent a year developing the HealthFund concept and all aspects of the service to be provided to HealthFund members. HealthFund was officially launched and open for business in November 2008.
The key members of the senior management team are set out below. Between them they have a wealth of experience to ensure that HealthFund members continue to enjoy high quality healthcare benefits in the most cost effective and transparent way possible.
Paul Ratcliff, Executive Chairman
Paul Ratcliff was co-founder and CEO of Hatton Blue a customer relationship management software business, which is now part of the multi-national Fair Isaacs Group. Hatton Blue's flagship product Vectus is still used extensively in the financial services, banking and legal sectors. Paul has a depth of management experience of applying leading edge technology to businesses where customer service is the priority.
Gerry Budd, Chief Executive Officer
Gerry Budd is a qualified actuary with wide-ranging experience in strategy, product development and operations in the insurance sector. He was for many years General Manager at Winterthur, who are well known as one of the innovators in the UK insurance market including the launch of the Churchill insurance brand and the pioneering of investment and pension products, such as self-invested personal pensions, which put the customer in control.
Duncan Leggat, Finance and Operations Director
Duncan Leggat is a chartered accountant with extensive and wide ranging experience. After training with KPMG in London he held senior finance positions in the construction, property and software industries. More recently he was involved in acquisitions and their subsequent integration at the Jelf Group. Duncan is responsible for all financial aspects of the company including processes and controls.
Alison Brown, Business Development Director
Alison Brown has over 20 years experience in business development roles with major firms in the health insurance industry, predominantly as an intermediary. She was Head of Corporate Accounts with Jelf (formerly SPS Wellbeing) for a number of years, focusing on providing bespoke total employee health solutions for the large corporate sector, dealing with healthcare trusts and self-insured funding mechanisms. She also spent time with Gissings (now Enrich Reward) working specifically with city banks on their healthcare programmes. She started her career at CIGNA (UK).
Professor Jeremy Stone, Non-Executive Director
Jeremy Stone, an academic physician, entrepreneur and healthcare strategist, has been closely involved in the evolution of the HealthFund concept and is an important addition to the Board. After an early career in medical practice - anaesthetics and intensive care - Jeremy had spells at BUPA, Gemini Consulting and as CEO of Snyder Healthcare. He was a founder investor in Admiral Insurance and was co-founder of Merchant Ventures Investment Ltd.
